Bambino Mio Cotton Prefolds – 100% Cotton, Pack of 3

Bambino Mio Cotton Prefolds are high-quality, 100% cotton prefolds that offer a versatile and cost-effective cloth nappy solution. They are slightly larger than our other cotton prefolds and significantly bigger than the organic cotton prefolds. While they can be used for newborns, they will be slightly bulkier.

Size: 52cm x 36cm (expect 1-2cm shrinkage on each side after washing).

Why Choose Prefolds?

Prefolds are ideal for newborns when folded around your baby and secured with a Nappi Nippa. They help bridge the gap until your birth-to-potty nappy fits properly. Their slim design, combined with a separate outer wrap, makes them highly leak-proof—reducing the risk of newborn poo explosions!

Once your baby outgrows the Nappi Nippa fastening mode (around 15lbs/6.8kg), simply fold the prefold into an oblong shape and use it with a Close or Flip birth-to-potty wrap as a quick-change all-in-two nappy system until potty training.

My Experience

I successfully used prefolds with my twins from birth. Flat nappies offer the best value for money and last through multiple children. While they require a little extra effort, they’re not complicated—it’s definitely worth considering!

My Tips

✔ Use Nappi Nippas – These have replaced safety pins, making fastening easier and safer.
✔ Watch tutorials – Check out YouTube videos and practice folding on a teddy before your baby arrives.
✔ Add fleece liners – Helps keep your baby’s bottom dry.
✔ Boost absorbency – Add bamboo boosters if needed.
✔ Pair with Flip Wraps – Use prefolds instead of the inserts sold with Flip wraps—it’s much cheaper!
✔ Keep a few as backup – Even if you use other nappies, prefolds are handy when you run out of clean ones.

Washing & Care

🔹 Pre-wash 3-5 times before use to remove natural oils and waxes. Expect 20-25% shrinkage after pre-washes.
🔹 Wash at 40-60°C (can be washed at 90°C if needed).
🔹 Tumble dry on low heat occasionally—frequent drying may shorten the nappy’s lifespan.
